The beauty of pursuing is that you’re never satisfied.
(insert sex joke)
Sorry, I’m nervous; I fly tomorrow.
Anyway.
In my eyes, life is about pursuing, but that doesn’t have to mean you’re behind.
As a writer, the solitude that comes with the hobby often feels like a safe haven, but in my experience, it’s only actually fulfilling when others feel safe in your words.
I was going to say something else, but my alarm just went off for my anxiety meds. It’s an unnerving sound, which might seem counterproductive, but it’s the only way I can ever actually remember.
Way to set the scene, Eric.
Hi there. In case you missed it, I’m Eric. If you’re new here, welcome! This is in fact the first post, so I’d be surprised if you weren’t.
Since I was a kid, I never really liked to read. With all the sports I was playing and the girls I was dating (you could count them on one hand), I never really found the time.
So naturally, I became an English major.
Odd as it sounds, I do like writing, so thankfully only 50% of my degree is a waste. To that end, I’ve always been interested in how I could use writing as a way to avoid having to do anything else, ever.
Hence this!
For the next 3 months, I’ll be living in a country where I know exactly 0 people. So, as I mentioned before, I’ll write blogs as I detail my journey in Barcelona (and around Europe) over the next few months, while also working on the “Other Things” portion I so heavily advertise.
Regardless, I’m calling this space Pursuing partially because it sounds cool and partially because I recently realized it’s all I ever want to do. Currently, my mentality in life revolves around always having something to look forward to; I find that if you’re constantly living in anticipation, it’s hard to be disappointed.
So, for the next 3 months at least, I’ll bring whoever wants along on my journey of pursuit. Hopefully, writing about what brings me life can do the same for you.
(If nothing else, in a literal sense, I’ll be pursuing Spanish slang at its most raw.)
I’m not sure how much I’ll write, what I’ll write about, or whether I’ll continue it post-trip, but for better or for worse, I bought a 3-year subscription to this thing, so keep an eye out for more groundbreaking reads like this one.
I look forward to seeing you.
